“Diner in Poughkeepsie” by Quinn Cicala (2017)
I’d known Quinn since I lived in Myrtle Beach for a very brief period of time a few years ago. I was blown away by how awesome this album was when it came out. This was the first song I heard off of it, and my favorite.
We ended up with a video with a very Americana vibe to it, filming in a diner, a laundromat, and a baseball stadium. I normally stay away from doing videos where it’s just people hanging out now, but for this song I felt it was the most appropriate concept, especially in the context of the album. The song plays very personally and as if it’s an actual dialogue between Quinn and the listener, so that’s why I opted for him looking directly into the camera for every shot.
